One of Merlin Cinemas chain’s five venues in Devon, the King Cinema is a favourite with residents. It’s housed on the high street in Kingsbridge’s former town hall, which began holding theatre and cinema events in 1997 and was fully converted three years later. Now its three screens show new releases alongside a thriving programme of Event Cinema performances from the Royal Opera House, the Bolshoi, the Royal Shakespeare Company and National Theatre, as well as other music screenings. The chain’s annual Movie Magic Card offers discounts on tickets to regulars, as well as at the bar, which serves soft, hot and alcoholic drinks, snacks and ice cream for you to enjoy in one of the cinema’s comfy seats.
