Stratford, east London, experienced a huge regeneration for the 2012 Olympics, and is now stuffed with restaurants, venues, shops – even a circus arts centre. All this competition keeps prices down, and Picturehouse Stratford is no exception, with adult tickets available at a very reasonable £7.50 to enjoy four screens of new blockbusters, arthouse, family-friendly and theatrical performances, plus unique and exclusive screenings. Housed in a purpose-built, award-winning modernist building, it also offers a large cafe-bar area. While you’re in the area, you can check out the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, slide down the 114.5m-high ‘Orbit’ sculpture by Anish Kapoor and head to Westfield shopping centre for some retail therapy.
