About Electric Cinema Portobello

Contact & About

Established in 1911, this Portobello Road stalwart has a chequered history, but has been a prime destination since it was reopened in 2002 by Soho House Group. There single screen has only 98 seats, but what seats – from leather armchairs, to sofas, even front-row beds. If you’re going all in, the bar serves beer, wine and cocktails, with the adjacent Electric Diner offering American classics and all-day breakfasts. The Electric can be privately hired for events and kids’ birthday parties. There are wheelchair-accessible seats, and Soho House members can nab discounted tickets. The adjustable screen – within the proscenium arch – changes size and shape to meet the film’s requirements. The arty programme frequently finds time for cult classics alongside newer films.
