Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3 (August 2)

The third (and seemingly final?) chapter of the MCU’s rag-tag space voyagers is a farewell in many ways. It seems to signal that director James Gunn is really done with Marvel and moving onto his duties at DC, and also shows each Guardian, from Chris Pratt’s cocky self-appointed leader to Zoe Saldaña’s revitalised fighter growing disillusioned with their life of danger and galaxy-hopping heroics. Do they have what it takes to pull off one last victory, centred around Rocket Raccoon’s disturbing and soul-crushing backstory?

Only Murders In The Building: Season 3 (August 8)

In this surprise murder-mystery hit, the stakes keep getting higher and the stars keep getting starrier. Our loveable main trio (Martin Short, Steve Martin, and Selena Gomez) is now on the case of a slain Hollywood star (Paul Rudd) and his co-star, played by the legendary Meryl Streep. The theatrics and big characters of Broadway should add a extra layer of drama to the bumbling, cliffhanger-laden shenanigans we’ve enjoyed so much in seasons past.

Ahsoka: Season 1 (August 23)

Kudos to Rosario Dawson, who was willing to sit through what must’ve been hours of makeup each morning in order to portray fan-fave Jedi Ahsoka Tano in her first stand-alone series. The latest chapter in the ever-bloating Star Wars franchise is blessedly made by Dave Filoni, long known for his terrific expansion of lore in animated shows about the galaxy far, far away. Any diversion from that pesky, overfamiliar Skywalker clan is a good move in our books.
