Though some reviews have been a bit cool, Terry Zwigoff aint' made a bad picture in my books: tear-inducing hilarity in 'Bad Santa', & neurotic intrigue with 'Ghost World' & 'Crumb'.
It follows Jerome (Minghella), a fresh-faced student who aspires to become the "greatest artist of the 21st century". But alas Jerome's art is too cumbersome and simple for his anything-goes art school peers and teacher (Malkovich) - a struggling artist himself. He finds two muses - one a nude model (Myles) whom he lusts for; the other a drunk, washed-up artist given to bouts of violent temper (Broadbent). All of which transpires against a gloomy backdrop - the school's environs are being stalked by a serial killer who has just strangled victim five.
