The story is about the relationship between an old man’s ghost (Amitabh Bachchan) and a boy called Banku, who names the ghost Bhoothnath. Juhi Chawla plays the boy's mother and Shahrukh Khan is her husband. The family comes to live at Nath villa, which was once Bhoothnath's home. Thus begins the friendship of Banku and Bhoothnath.
