The second of Lars von Trier's contraversial Dogma-95 films, mixing home-video and documentary styles to tell the story of a group of young people who have decided to get to know their “inner-idiots”—breaking both their outer and inner appearances in the process.

In this German drama, Berlin playwright Lisa (Nina Hoss, Barbara) follows her husband Martin to Switzerland, where he manages a private school. However, when her twin brother Sven’s (Lars Eidinger, Persian Lessons)  leukaemia worsens, she decides she must return home to help, risking her marriage in the process.
